DSM Somos 9120

Somos 9120 is a relatively flexible, durable resin that mimics a stiff polypropylene. It is a durable offering for instances where you need your parts to be able to withstand harsh mechanical treatment. It also has excellent capabilities to reproduce the finest details on your parts, meaning that corners are extra sharp and very thin walls and small holes can be imaged accurately.

3D Systems Accura® 25

Only offered in our Viper Pro equipment, Accura 25 is an off-white opaque material with a smooth, lubricious feel. Its stiffness places it somewhere between a stiff polypropylene and a flexible, impact-modified ABS. With the smooth sidewalls and crisp definition of the Viper Pro, parts made of Accura 25 have a molded part look to them that is unequaled.

DSM Somos WaterShed™ XC 11122

WaterShed mimics traditional engineering plastics including ABS and PBT. It has a translucent appearance with our Standard Matte Finish, but can be finished clear. Our customers have used it for applications such as lenses and flow-visualization models. WaterShed is also highly resistant to water and humidity, resulting in excellent dimensional stability.

DSM Somos DMX-SL™ 100

DMX is a new class of material from DSM offering superior impact resistance. Parts built in DMX are opaque, slightly off-white in color, and have the appearance and feel of an injection molded part. Mechanically, it is similar to ABS plastic, and is an excellent choice for applications requiring extra toughness and durability. DMX is currently available in our Viper machines, but it will soon be qualified in our Viper Pro for applications requiring a larger build envelope.

3D Systems Accura® 60

Accura 60 is a clear material with a pleasant blue tint to thicker sections. With our Standard Matte Finish, it has a translucent, "frosted" appearance, but can be finished clear for parts requiring high clarity. It is comparable in stiffness and surface feel to polycarbonate or polystyrene, and doesn't exhibit the increased brittleness that typically accompanies stiffer SL resins. This makes it suitable for parts like housings with snap fits. It is also a very accurate material with the ability to resolve fine features and detail. Accura 60 is available in both our Viper and Viper Pro machines.

DSM Somos ProtoTherm™ 12120

ProtoTherm produces strong, high-temperature tolerant, water-resistant parts. It is well-suited for applications requiring greater stiffness and small feature resolution, such as tooling masters or small electrical connectors. In addition, unlike many "high-temperature" resins, the mechanical properties (tensile modulus and elongation to break) actually improve with a thermal post-cure. ProtoTherm is translucent red with a Standard Matte Finish, but can be finished to a clear red for applications requiring clarity.

DSM Somos NanoTool™

NanoTool is a ceramic-filled epoxy resin that provides superior stiffness and high-temperature resistance. The high stiffness results in parts that are dimensionally very stable with little distortion. This stiffness also provides the foundation for SLArmor™, where structural nickel is plated on the NanoTool to form a composite structure with performance approaching that of metal. Other applications for NanoTool include automotive components, wind tunnel testing, and high-temperature applications up to 269 °C.

3D Systems DuraForm® EX Black

The DuraForm EX material is nylon-based, with ultra-high impact resistance and elongation to break. It has a stiffness that positions it mid-range between a polypropylene and an ABS. Because it is a sintered material, it is a true thermoplastic with high temperature resistance and environmental stability. It is the material of choice for applications ranging from under-hood parts, aerospace components, applications requiring extreme durability, and low-volume production of non-cosmetic parts.

Notable for
impact resistance, environmental stability
Comparable to

3D Systems VisiJet® HR 200

The material used to create parts on our InVision HR machines is tough and durable enough for fit testing, snap actions, and general handling. While not quite as tough or durable as conventional thermoplastics, the InVision HR material has tensile properties that compare favorably to some high-density polyethylene plastics. It is opaque blue and shows detail nicely.
